Former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen is in a legal trouble for importing her luxurious car and violating foreign trade rules. Madras high court summoned her for hearing on 18th of September.
It was reported that the first accused, Haren Choksey, sold a Toyota Landcruiser to the second suspect, Vasu Pandari Thamala who sold it to Ms Sen. The DRI confirmed that the vehicle was falsely imported by not disclosing the chassis number, year of manufacture and the assessable value. This was done prior to import of the car to mislead the actress.
Lease agreement through Transfer of Residence (TR) scheme was signed at the time of sale, according to which the vehicle could not be transferred in name of any other person except the importer for two years.
The DRI seized the car on January 24’2006 under the Customs Act, and the ‘Main Hoon Na’ actress was under obligation to compensate Rs.20.31 Lakhs as a security deposit and further, a warrant was issued against Ms Sen for not being present at court for the hearing in June.
The Bengali beauty is not so active in the acting industry nowadays. She was last seen in a Bengali drama, Nirbaak, in 2015.
