Kangana Ranaut to be Back On-Screen with Rani Laxmibai Biopic, "Manikarnika"

Actress Kangana Ranaut is back with the strongest character. After Priyanka Chopra, Sushant Singh Rajput, Sonam Kapoor and Aamir Khan, now it’s time for Kangana playing a biopic. Kangana Ranaut is ready to amaze us with Rani Laxmibai as her next movie. It’s been 2 years working on the script with director Ketan Mehta, the writer of the ‘Manjhi - The Mountain Man’ but now, the film is ready to hit theaters with another director.

Kangana and Ketan were facing differences over the language of the production and thus the director of the film got changed. Ketan wanted to make this venture to reach global audience and thus wanted to shoot in English language but Kangana opposed the decision and being a strong contributor in the script, her opinion mattered.

Kangana in an interview said, "Ketan was insistent that his movie be made in English for an international audience, like Gurinder Chadha's The Viceroy House, but those working on the film felt it won't go with the ethos of the story. The actress and the filmmaker couldn't find common ground on the language factor, leaving the project in a limbo."

Now, ‘Gabbar Is Back’ fame Krish has been directing the biopic called “Manikarnika”. The story is written by KV Vijayendra Prasad, who also wrote Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Baahubali. The new movie venture will begin with a fresh team and top studio. The storyline covers the life of an ordinary girl who transformed into a warrior girl when faced difficult situations.

The film is scheduled to hit theaters in mid-May this year!
