Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh's Case Slows Down Alia Bhatt's Pace!

Alia Bhatt is currently on a high in the film industry and with countless super hits in her caddie, her confidence as an actor clearly shows with every performance. To prove her mettle yet again the actress will next be seen in Meghna Gulzar’s Raazi alongside Vicky Kaushal. The film is based on Harinder Sikka’s novel Calling Sehmat and the shoot started in Mumbai last month.

Part of the schedule had the crew of the film to head to Patiala. But now the schedule seems to have turned into a complete nightmare for the entire team. As the verdict for conviction of the Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh came out in the rape case, it was total mayhem in many parts of Punjab and Haryana claiming around 30 lives and leaving almost 250 people seriously injured. Considering the sensitivity and hostility, the shoot for Raazi also had to be kept at bay over the weekend.

According to reports, Meghna Gulzar was in the middle of shooting a sequence with Alia and Vicky when the news hit the unit's ears. And realizing the gravity of the situation Meghna immediately called for a pack up. According to a source, Meghna realized that it would be unsafe to shoot in Patiala. And since the team was required to shoot across several locations in the city, moving around with the stars and equipment was a risky proposition. Mobile and internet services had been dropped, so communication was another issue among the unit.

As a matter of fact, a state of curfew was imposed within hours of three news outbreak. The stars and crew members decided to stay in their hotels for the rest of the time in order to avoid any unwanted incidents to take place and for everyone's safety as well.

As per latest reports, Meghna had a meeting with producers last night to discuss as to when should the shoot resume. According to our source, they considered the possibility of matters spiraling out of control once the final judicial statement comes out on Monday and that it would be universally beneficial to keep the schedule at rest till then.

The Patiala schedule was meant to end by 10th September which was then to be followed by the Chandigarh schedule for the drama film.
