Toilet: Ek Prem Katha actor, Akshay Kumar is said to feature in the upcoming yet untitled project based on the battle of Saragarhi. According to one of the sources, Salman Khan has decided to co-produce the film along with director-producer Karan Johar. The movie initially was titled as "The Battle of Saragarhi" But now, due to a clash between the names and directors of the same plot, Akshay Kumar team has decided to change the name.
Director Raj Kumar Santoshi is also making a movie based on the same storyline starring Randeep Hooda in the lead role and Ajay Devgan had on board. Trade analyst Girish Johar said in a statement that Ajay Devgan is firm about his project irrespective of who else is preparing on the same plot.
Concerning the story, Akshay Kumar will be seen portraying the character of Havaldar, Ishar Singh the military commander of 21 Sikh soldiers, who led his men in a fight against thousands of Afghani attackers in 1897. This battle came to be acknowledged as the Battle of Saragarhi.
According to reports, now the film is titled as Kesar which means saffron. Talks regarding the link between the name and the colour of ruling Bhartiya Janata Party because Akshay’s previous movie Toilet was also with the message from Government’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan were doing rounds. However, a source immediately ruled off the rumours about the link between the two.
It would be interesting to watch that who wins the battle of directing and producing. The preparations for the movie is expected to start soon.
